VICTOR DE SOUZA
Since the last decade, this provocative designer,
native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, has placed himself among the most prominent
names in Latin American fashion. Fashion icons like Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica
Parker and the always controversial singer, Lady Gaga, love his designs. Elegance, pieces of tradition, and a
high degree of avant-garde, all characterize the established style of Victor de
Souza, who has been heading his own firm since 2002.
One could say that Victor de Souza’s career has been a nonstop success. This young Argentinean knew how to find the path that would take him to realize his dream of attaining international recognition for his creations. Victor is the creator of the eccentric outfits that Lady Gaga wears, and through his “crazy designs”, he has allowed for Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (Lady Gaga), to become more than just a singer. She now has a unique image, an unmistakable style, all a direct result of the versatility and creativity of this designer.
De Souza highlights femininity in his designs. “Women
have been hidden for too long. That had to change,” says De Souza, as he adds
that “women have to be courageous.” And he has found more than enough courage
in Lady Gaga; she uses his creations
because through them she has been able to project a unique and original image
and she also admits that, she “loves his clothes.” Victor showcased a
collection in Paris and already parades in the Fashion Week in New York, city where he arrived in 1998.
We can say that Latin designers have put the name of
Latin America in high regard, and many more achievements are yet to come. All,
thanks to the effort, dedication, passion, creativity, and work that each one
of them puts in to bring their talent to their highest potential, to the next
level!!
