Once again, one of the most prestigious fashion week in the world has taken place: THE MERCEDES BENZ NY FASHION WEEK. An event where more than 50 designers participated showcasing their Spring/Summer 2013 collections dressing with color, originality, and elegance the catwalks of New York City. For eight consecutive days, the eyes of the world were on the Big Apple.
On the catwalks of fashion week in New York,
internationally renowned Latin designers stood out, as is the case of
Venezuelan designer Carolina Herrera,
whose exclusive collections are known for being exquisitely detailed,
impeccable, sophisticated, and totally feminine, making her one of the most
coveted designers by women from all over the world and most of all by famous
movie stars like Sofia Vergara.
Colombian designer, Carlos Luna, showcased his
collection Sirenas, an incredible
collection aimed at highlighting a woman’s beauty, elegance and sensuality.
Luna is known for being a perfectionist and his designs are truly elegant, with
sophisticated finishes and perfect cuts. Every detail matters to him, and in
this occasion he demonstrated that; when it’s time to create, he gives it his
all!
We also had Colombian-Venezuelan designer Raul Peñaranda, whose collection Muses of Creation, was exalted by its
elegance. Each outfit, each detail, both, depicting the refinement in his work.
His pieces demonstrate the feeling and dedication this designer places over his
creations, which has resulted in great success for him.
Another one of our designers is Uruguayan designer Gabriela Perezutti, who introduced a collection under her brand name Candela, a name that has evolved from its original launch date and one that has emerged unique, by mixing the “gaucha” influence from her country and elements of modern urban life. Her collections are of high quality, but affordable for the modern-day shopper.

Designer Carlos
Miele, who is known as “The master of
fine craftsmanship and intriguing detail,” also introduced his collection
with designs said to have influences from his native Brazil and which have stood
out throughout the years for the different artisan techniques used from the
different regions of his country. Techniques
which once applied to his collections, manage to give it a unique touch, a characteristic
of the designer.
Another designer joining the select group of 50 haute
couture professionals who introduced their collections at the long awaited
Fashion Week is Venezuelan, Norisol
Ferrari, whose designs are characterized for being luxurious, elegant, and
modern; taking inspiration from experiences in her personal life.
Fashion Week also showcased collections from American designers Donna Karan and Tommy Hilfiger who continue to add an exclusive touch to a luxurious week complemented by elegance and fashion along with renowned Diane Von Funstenberg, whose designs are distinctive as a result of creations from her own manufactured materials. This talented woman owes her world recognition to her patterned fabric; considered unique in the industry. Proffers from this fashion trio are always anticipated and acclaimed by many, as they feature elegance, beauty and coloring.
For its importance at an international level, Mercedes
Benz NY Fashion Week is considered a platform for success to exponents of
haute couture, because it is here that the opportunity to show the world their
designs, collections and knowledge of the industry, becomes available. It is
for this reason that artists from all province, models, make-up artists,
stylists, photographers, fashionistas, and even singers like Jennifer Lopez,
who has shown up on many occasions to this event; strive to show the best of
their talent in addition to having the opportunity to showcase their work
It is worth noting that during this week, there are
other types of events that went on, like Fashion Night Out, where stores
opened their doors until late hours of the night, having as guests singers,
actors, and models; an opportunity for consumers to meet them in person while
at the same time gaining access to collections that otherwise would not be
available at such affordable prices. Many of these fashion houses were hosts to
parties after their show. It was then, that designers had the chance to mingle
with consumers and public figures, thus becoming more popular and allowing for
the expansion of their business. Fashion is an industry which generates jobs
and millions of dollars a year, reason why, this event is of so much importance
for New York City, giving it the privilege of being known as the Fashion
Capital of the World.
We can definitely say that this Fashion Week was a success; and it also gave Latin American designers, the biggest of oportunities to leave the name of their countries in high regard, demostrating that their designs and style add the special touch that identifies them as Latinos.

Una
vez más se presentó el tan esperado y prestigioso MERCEDES BENZ NEW YORK FASHION
WEEK. Evento en el que participaron más de 50 diseñadores, quienes con sus
colecciones Primavera/Verano 2013 vistieron de colorido, originalidad y
elegancia, las pasarelas de la ciudad de Nueva York. Por ocho días
consecutivos, los ojos del mundo estuvieron puestos en la gran manzana. En las
pasarelas de la semana de la moda en NY, se destacaron diseñadores latinos muy reconocidos
a nivel internacional, como es el caso de la diseñadora venezolana Carolina
Herrera, cuyas exclusivas colecciones son conocidas por ser exquisitamente
detalladas, impecables, sofisticadas y totalmente femeninas, haciendo de ella,
una de las diseñadoras más apetecidas por muchas mujeres alrededor del mundo y
sobre todo, por famosas estrellas de cine, como Sofía Vergara.
El
diseñador colombiano Carlos Luna, presentó su colección Sirens.
Esta increíble colección fue hecha para resaltar la belleza, la elegancia y la sensualidad
de la mujer. Luna es reconocido por ser un perfeccionista. Sus diseños son
verdaderamente elegantes, sofisticados y de acabados y cortes perfectos. Cada
detalle para él cuenta y en esta oportunidad, demostró una vez más que a la
hora de realizar su trabajo, se entrega por completo.
Por
su parte, el diseñador colombo-venezolano Raúl Peñaranda, presentó su
muy elegante colección titulada Muses of Creation. Cada vestido, cada detalle,
muestran lo refinado de su trabajo. Sus prendas muestran el sentimiento y la
dedicación que este gran diseñador pone a la hora de crear su colección, la
cual logró ser un éxito total.
Otra
de las nuestras, la diseñadora uruguaya Gabriela Perezutti, presentó una
colección bajo sumarca Candela, nombre que ha evolucionado desde su lanzamiento
inicial y que se perfila como única, mezclando la influencia “gaucha” de su
país y elementos de la vida urbana moderna. Sus colecciones son de alta
calidad, pero asequibles para el comprador contemporáneo.
También,
el diseñador brasileño Carlos Miele, quien es considerado “el maestro de
la delicada artesanía y el detalle intrigante”, mostró su colección, con influencia
de su natal Brasil, la cual ha sido reconocida a través de los años por mostrar
diferentes técnicas empleadas por artesanos de diferentes regiones de su país y
que al integrarlas a sus colecciones, logran darle el toque único que lo
caracterizan como diseñador.
Otra
diseñadora que se unió al selectivo grupo de los 50 profesionales de la alta
costura en NY, fue la venezolana Norisol Ferrari, cuya propuesta se
caracteriza por ser lujosa, elegante y moderna, tomando de inspiración
experiencias de su vida personal. Esta semana también se expusieron las
colecciones de los diseñadores estadounidenses, Donna Karan y Tommy
Hilfiger, quienes siguen dándole un toque exclusivo a esta semana de lujo,
distinción y moda. Y la de la reconocida Diane Von Funstenberg, cuyos
diseños se caracterizan por ser hechos con telas que ella misma diseña y confecciona.
Esta talentosa mujer le debe su reconocimiento mundial al estampado de sus
telas, pues se consideran únicos en la industria.
Por esta razón, artistas de todos los géneros, modelos, maquilladores, estilistas, fotógrafos, fashionistas y hasta cantantes como Jennifer López -quien se ha presentado en otras oportunidades en este evento- se esmeran en dar lo mejor de su talento y además, tienen la oportunidad de exponer su trabajo. Cabe recordar que durante la semana de la moda, también se llevaron a cabo otros tipos de eventos como el Fashion Night Out, en el cual las tiendas abren sus puertas hasta altas horas de la noche, teniendo como invitados a cantantes, actores y modelos; oportunidad para el comprador conocerlos en persona y a su vez, tener acceso a las colecciones que se ofrecen en las tiendas, a precios muchos más económicos y accesibles al bolsillo. Muchas de estas casas de moda llevan a cabo fiestas después de presentar sus shows. Allí los diseñadores tienen la oportunidad de socializar con el comprador y personas públicas, para así darse a conocer un poco más y ampliar sus negocios. La moda es una industria que genera empleo y millones de dólares al año, por esta razón, este evento es de mucha importancia para la ciudad de Nueva York, pues le da el mérito de ser reconocida como la “Capital Mundial de la Moda”. Podemos decir que esta semana de la moda fue un éxito y para los diseñadores hispanos, la más grande de las oportunidades para dejar en alto cada uno de los países representados, demostrando que su estilo y diseños, agregan ese toque especial que los identifica como latinos.
