Romantic ballads return to lead the listings of the
most popular songs in the world, and Mexican bands are not far behind in this
respect. This the case of BANDA CAMILA,
a pop trio made up of producer and composer Mario
Domm, vocalist Samuel Parra Cruz
“Samo” and guitarist Pablo Hurtado.
CAMILA launched their first production Todo Cambio in March of 2007, a record that went on sale under the SONY BMG Music Entertainment label and
which sold more than a million copies. They’ve composed hits for artists of the
stature of Thalía, Alejandra Guzmán, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro
Fernández, Cristian Castro, Yuri and Reyli, among other greats.
This group was enshrined in Mexico, Latin America and
Spain with their song Mientes,
apportionment that was part of their second production Dejarte De Amar which premiered in 2010 and which only a week after
being out, placed number one in sales in the iTunes store, according to what the band posted on their social
page of MySpace. In addition, this
song has obtained millions of visits to the different videos relating to it in
YouTube, which shows once again that ballads have again conquered the ears of
world.
Dejarte de
Amar, composed
almost completely in Mamita Estudio,
in Mexico, talks about solitude in its different facets, “in that which feels
like a void. The song Maya, for
example, talks about discarding all that’s material and the eternal search for the
spiritual,” explains Mario.
For the most part, Camila’s
music intertwines a series of feelings and rhythms that fuse in the drama,
love, the struggle to forget, the disillusion turned to hope; a very intense
pop, painful, passionate and real, all marked in the equilibrium of
personalities of these three great musicians. Their friendship, the
coordination and intensity of their talent paying tribute to love and
forgetting, in order to give back the romanticism and melodrama, all in a
rhythm with a spirit of rock.
In their 2011 Billboards
de la Música Latina performance, they denied the rumors that the band was
splitting up.
And since this wasn’t enough to do away with the
rumors of a possible split, Samuel
stated in their social page of Twitter
that “Camila is not splitting up. We are closer now more than ever, our careers
have just begun, there aren’t any problems among Mario, Pablo and myself.”
This year, Camila took part in the LIII International Festival of the Song of
Viña del Mar in Chile surpassing all expectations and taking with them the
silver torch, a golden one and a silver seagull, thus confirming that this
group is a phenomenon that in very few years has managed to captivate the heart
of all Latin America, reclaiming the sense of romance in music.
The preference for ballads and music by young people
is not the norm, but during these last years, when a ballad becomes a hit, it
breaks all established standards.
The group CAMILA,
along with other Spanish pop ballad artists, is one of the groups that have
revived the allure for romantic ballads as they resume their presence in this
second decade of the XXI century.

Fenómeno CAMILA
Las
baladas románticas vuelven a liderar los listados de las canciones más
escuchadas en el mundo, y las bandas mexicanas no se quedan atrás en esta
materia. Es el caso de la BANDA CAMILA,
un trío pop conformado por el productor y compositor Mario Domm, el vocalista Samuel
Parra Cruz “Samo” y el
guitarrista Pablo Hurtado.
CAMILA
lanzó su primera producción Todo Cambió
en marzo del 2007 -disco que salió a la venta bajo el sello SONY BMG Music Entertainment y que
vendió más de un millón de copias- ha compuesto éxitos para artistas de la
talla de Thalía, Alejandra Guzmán, Paulina
Rubio, Alejandro Fernández, Cristian Castro, Yuri y Reyli, entre otros
de los grandes.
Esta
agrupación se consagró en los listados de México, Latino-américa y España con el
tema Mientes, un corte que hizo parte
de su segunda producción Dejarte De Amar
que se estrenó en el año 2010 y que a tan solo a una semana de su estreno, se
posicionó en el primer lugar de ventas de la tienda de Itunes, según publicó la banda en su página de la red social MySpace. Además, este tema ha alcanzado
millones de visitas, en los diferentes vídeos sobre el tema en YouTube, mostrando una vez más, que la
balada ha vuelto a conquistar los oídos del mundo.
Dejarte de Amar,
compuesto casi todo en Mamita Estudio,
en México, habla de la soledad en diferentes facetas, “en aquella que se siente
como un vacío. El tema Maya por
ejemplo, habla sobre el despojo material y sobre esa eterna búsqueda
espiritual”, explica Mario.
En
general, la música de Camila, entrelaza
una serie de sentimientos y ritmos que se funden en el drama, el amor, la lucha
por olvidar, en la desilusión convertida en esperanza; un pop intenso,
doloroso, apasionado y real, todo marcado en el equilibrio de personalidades de
estos tres grandes músicos. Su amistad, la coordinación e intensidad de sus
talentos haciendo tributo al amor y al olvido, para devolvernos el romanticismo
y el melodrama, en un ritmo con espíritu de rock.
En
el 2011, en su presentación en los Billboards
de la Música Latina, la agrupación desmintió los rumores de que la banda
fuese a desintegrarse.
Y
como esto no fue suficiente para apagar los rumores de una posible separación, Samuel afirmó en su página socia de Twitter: "Camila no se separa. Estamos mas unidos que nunca. Nuestra carrera apenas comienza, no hay ningún problema entre Mario, Pablo y yo".
Camila participó en el LIII Festival Internacional de la canción de Viña del Mar este año en Chile, superando toda expectativa y llevándose consigo una antorcha de plata, otra de oro y una gaviota de plata y confirmando que esta agrupación es un fenómeno que en muy pocos años ha logrado cautivar el corazón de toda Latinoamerica, recuperando el sentido romántico de la música.
La
preferencia por las baladas y la música hecha por la gente joven no es la
norma, pero en estos últimos años, cuando una balada se convierte en éxito,
rompe con todos los estándares establecidos.
La
banda CAMILA acompañada por otros
jóvenes baladistas de pop en español, es una de las bandas que ha revivido el
encanto por la balada romántica que vuelve a sonar en esta segunda década, del
siglo XXI.
